Some larger publications have access to long-term test cars. Carwow is one such publication, and they have a long-term test park. As the lead host of their videos, Matt Watson usually gets really good videos that you can live with for a while. He recently BMW G80 M3 Competition has his long-term; the beautiful green island of Maine; but now it is being replaced by something much, much more exciting – the BMW M5 CS.
Without a doubt, the BMW M5 CS has been my favorite BMW for the last two decades. It’s so incredibly fast, but it’s also incredibly fun to ride. This is much more than the M5 Competition with extra power and traction. It looks like a completely different car and is one of the best cars the M Division has ever produced. In this new video from Carwow, Watson compares it to his upcoming M3 Competition.
At first he compares how they drift, and they are both incredibly good. He also compares their designs, their interiors and how they are treated. Interestingly, Watson actually prefers the front of the M3 over the M5, so I’ve just talked to various psychiatric facilities in the UK, to hopefully get Watson the help he so desperately needs. Joke aside, the M3 looks much more aggressive, and that’s what he prefers.
But what do they like to ride, back to back? The M5 CS is simply much better than the M3 Competition in every way. It’s amazing to see how the heavier, more sophisticated, luxurious car beat the smaller, lighter, less sophisticated car in the driving dynamics test, but the M5 CS is no ordinary M5. As Watson explains, there is something so special about the way the M5 CS moves that the M3 Competition, no matter how good it is, can’t keep up.
