BMW iX Drag Races Audi E-Tron S, Tesla Model X and Mercedes EQC

If you’ve been dreaming of seeing a race between some of the heaviest production cars on sale today, Carwow covers you. When the lightest car weighs up to 2,420 kilograms (5,335 pounds), you realize that this is a battle of heavyweights. As the smallest electric car in the series, the Mercedes EQC is more sporty, so to speak… At the other end of the spectrum, the Audi E-Tron S weighs 2,620 kg (5,776 pounds).

How can these luxury barges compensate (to some extent) for the weight they carry? Thanks to electric motors, huge torque is triggered almost instantly. The SUV with four rings has three of them, which allows you to move in the mountains at 970 Newton meters (715 lb-ft). Even the weakest, the Tesla Model X, still boasts more than a generous 755 Nm (557 lb-ft).

Not surprisingly, the Audi E-Tron S took off like a rocket and created a significant gap. We see the BMW iX, driven by Matt Watson, gaining ground, but that’s not enough to catch a three-engine electric car. Model X had to settle for third place, and Mercedes EQC was dead last. Some rightly argue that this was a dishonest race, given that Tesla was not a Performance version.

We could say the same about the BMW iX, as it was the xDrive50, but that’s understandable given that the M60 was just introduced. The first electric SUV BMW M would be best suited for the E-Tron S. As for the EQC, the triangular star does not sell the AMG version, although the next generation model is likely to get it.

The next race was a puzzle, as Audi failed to start and finish behind the iX and Model X. In the third race it was neck and neck, and the electric Bimmer won the photo finish. When it comes to racing at 30 mph, the xDrive50 almost lost the mile race through its 125 mph limiter.

Tesla managed to win one, being the fastest in the race at 50 miles per hour, followed by the iX and E-Tron S. Audi accelerated emergency braking from 100 miles per hour, while the Model X was the worst.
